Places to Visit in Katra

Bhairon Temple: This temple is also one of the major attractions in Katra. It is less than 1.5 km from the Bhawan. This temple is situated at over the height of 6500 ft atop the highest point. There are some steep climbs that make it a good trekking adventure. However, you can also take palanquins or ponies. Some people believe that their Vaishno Devi trip is not complete unless they have visited this temple.

Adhkunwari: This place is located at a height of about 4800 ft and is 6 km far from Katra. In fact, it is half way to the Vaishno Devi holy cave. This place is considered to be a very important place religiously. It is said to be the place where Vaishno Devi Mata had completed her nine months meditation.

It is also believed that when Bhairon Nath had begun to approach the cave, Mata had created an exit at the dad end with her trident. There is only just enough space to allow one person to pass through it at a time.

Sanjichhat: This is one of the most scenic spots of the place. It is a little over 3km from Adhkunwari. It provides an incredibly amazing view of the landscape, the valley, and the snow clad mountains. If you are taking the old track this is the highest point and in order to get to Bhawan you will need to walk downhill.
